March 2025 Newsletter

Hello Writers!

Welcome back to the newsletter!

This month we are featuring ReWrites member, Jonathan Lamb. He is a lover of all things theater. He started  performing back in 1988 and has been involved ever since. Seven years ago he started his journey with his first play, Adventures Await. Since then he bravely calls himself a Playwright. He has started the Apple Blossom Ladies Auxiliary Murder Mystery series with Appleseed Community Theatre. The next one, Minnesota Derby Murders will be happening in August 2025, then another in December.  In the fall he will be attending Western Technical College for Digital Marketing.  He has many ideas for poems, novels, dance stories, and many many more plays.

Victory! News from the Guild

Congratulations to ReWrites member Mary De Merle Schams on the release of her debut picture book, Push Restart. It's a social emotional learning book that encourages readers to unlock the power of emotional growth. Mary has been having so much fun at library, daycare and school visits watching children connect with the characters and the theme, especially when they shout PUSH RESTART!

Jonathan’s original play, Adventures Await, premieres this April at the Weber Center. Get your tickets here. Audiences will witness the heart-wrenching journey of a 40-year-old son who moves back home to care for his mother battling Alzheimer’s disease. As they navigate the challenges of this devastating illness together, their bond strengthens, revealing the depth of their resilience and the power of love in the face of adversity. Imagination, true-to-life experiences, and heartfelt emotion converge in this world premiere production, penned by none other than the Coulee Region’s very own Jonathan Lamb, promising an unforgettable theatrical experience that touches the soul and inspires the spirit.

Writing Prompt

From Dead Birds Publishing

What happens when opposing supernatural forces collide? Yang and Yin. Death versus life. Villain against hero. Vampire hunting priest. Senses versus truth.

Parables are stories with life lessons woven into the pages. Lessons your characters must confront, lessons they must overcome to survive.

Write a supernatural parable with polarities conflicting with each other at their core.

Consider submitting your short story to Dead Birds Publishing next anthology, Supernatural Parables: Myth versus Reality by April 1st. Submission guidelines here - https://deadbirdspublishing.com/submissions/
